abaqis® Nursing Home Quality Assurance Systemabaqis® is available exclusively from Medline Industries Nursing Home Quality's abaqis® Quality Assurance System is the only quality assessment and reporting system that is tied directly to the Quality Indicator Survey (QIS). abaqis® continually prepares you for either QIS or traditional long-term care surveys by showing the regulatory areas where you should focus your quality improvement efforts based on the same assessments that are used in the survey process. The emphasis on specific information reported by residents and families helps to identify the needs of your residents, thus aiding you in your efforts to meet their needs. By using abaqis® for quality assurance, you can continuously improve your survey readiness and manage your risk. abaqis® is a web-based application that can be accessed from any internet-connected device. abaqis® reports identify which of the 26 Care Areas, which are tied directly to the regulations and F tags in the QIS, a facility should target for quality improvement. The drill-down capabilities in abaqis® not only identify possible deficiencies by Care Area, but also provide root cause analysis on both a facility-wide or individual resident basis. abaqis® Stage 1 SuiteThe abaqis® Stage 1 Suite examines 104 resident-centered indicators of quality of care and quality of life (termed QCIs, or QCLIs) that are used to identify care areas for in-depth investigation and subsequently the possibility of citation during a Quality Indicator Survey. These indicators, which go beyond the MDS QIs and QMs, are contained in seven modules that faithfully reproduce the QIS assessments conducted during a survey. These modules include:
The assessments follow the protocols used in the QIS survey, showing only those questions that are required. The system uses all of the skip patterns and exclusions that contained in the survey software. abaqis'® enhanced graphics make data entry intuitive and easy to understand. The individual Stage 1 Assessment Reports show where a facility rates relative to the survey thresholds in the 104 Quality of Care and Life Indicators based on the same logic that is used in a QIS survey. The easy-to-use Summary Report guides a facility in quality improvement and continuous survey readiness by showing where their care is potentially deficient across all six assessments and the root cause of this potentially deficient practice. Finally, The Risk Analysis Report allows users to compare risk of a Stage 2 in-depth investigation for facilities, Care Areas and QCLIs. abaqis® Stage 1 Suite Set-up OptionsWhether you are implementing one facility or several, we have an abaqis® set-up package to meet your needs. Stage 1 SetupThis one day implementation includes a certified abaqis® set-up specialist coming on site to your facility and conducting short QIS and abaqis® overview session in which your staff will learn how to conduct the QIS assessments in the Stage 1 Suite and how to begin implementing abaqis® in your facility. The Set-up Specialist will also train selected staff how to interpret the reports and use them for quality assurance. This set-up option is ideal for organizations with a small number of facilities. Completion of the Nursing Home Quality 1-Day Basic Course is a prerequisite for any attendees participating in this option.
